Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Wai Wai House Fish And Chips wins patrons over with its wonderfully crispy batter. The cod and haddock emerge cooked to perfection, light and fresh without the greasy aftertaste that can sometimes plague takeaway fish. Generous portion sizes are a hallmark of this spot, especially when it comes to the chips, making it a great value option for families or couples who enjoy sharing. Customers rave about how the food stays hot and crisp thanks to careful wrapping in paper and bags, which speaks volumes about the attention to detail. Moreover, the friendly staff add to the positive experience, providing prompt service that keeps diners smiling. Lastly, being able to now use card payments instead of cash is a welcomed bonus that enhances convenience.

Most Disliked

While Wai Wai House Fish And Chips has much to offer, some patrons lament the occasional wait time during lunchtime and dinner hours, particularly when they are crowded. As it’s a takeaway setup, there may not always be seating available, which can be a downside for those hoping for a sit-down meal. Some customers also mention that the option for dining in can be limited at peak times, leading to a hurried atmosphere. Additionally, though the restaurant maintains high standards, two or three reviews hint at inconsistencies, where portions may vary slightly in size or the batter may not always be up to their usual crisp standards at the busiest times, leaving a couple of diners slightly disappointed. However, these instances seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.

Great fish and chips from Wai Wai House cooked freshly to order with cheerful and friendly service. A good size piece of cod cooked perfectly in a nice thin crisp batter and the chips were also cooked just right bring nice and crisp rather than soft and soggy. The food was well wrapped in paper and a paper bag so it stayed hot and the batter and chips retained their crunch. Cod, small chips and mushy peas cost £12.10. Highly recommended and worth going out of your way for.

I had to write this review, last night we had the best fish and chips I’ve had in ages. I stopped eating them because the fish would be too greasy and the chips over fried and more like crisps and just generally disappointing. Last night however Wai Wai fish and chips was delicious! We had two haddock and a large chips. The fish was fresh and the batter was light, the chips were cooked perfectly and tasty. Large chips was enough for two easily and my husband doesn’t like to go short! I definitely recommend for a fish and chip dinner! Also, they now take card payments, they used to only take cash, so that’s an added bonus! 👍😁

Excellent chips, batter was crisp with perfect portion sizes. Very fresh, though everything was made fresh as I was the only customer in. I will be returning!

Best chippy around. Love their cod. It is take away so know that in advance. I recommend them. All fish and chips are cooked to order. Nothing sitting in a heated cabinet waiting for a customer. Another visit last week, still excellent. Not a fan of the onion rings but the fish is excellent.
